So 2018 is here, looking back at 2017 I accomplish some of my goals. I think I did good on increasing my net worth and adding to my investment account. I would like to continue that in 2018 and aim higher. Here is my 2018 goals.
Sorry for the late post for the new year. A lot has change with work/my life. I been mostly updating my monthly reports but hoping this year I can focus on my blog and write some more personal finance article like I used to. I mention in this post HERE that I returned to Afghanistan. On Oct 2016 I have left Afghanistan and now working in the UK. Life has changed for me and no more of the desert life and feeling like being in prison. Although there was a reduction in pay when I took the job in the UK , I can now freely travel around since traveling is my passion. Here is my 2017 goals that I would like to accomplish.
Here is my 2016 goals that I would like to achieve.
Max out 401k:
$18,000, this goal is completed at the end of March 2016, so I’m happy I can max this out.
Max out IRA:
$5,500, this goal is completed. I would like to put it in Roth but I anticipate my income would be to high. I thought about a possible back door but I’m not sure about that and will think about it.
$30,000, Currently save up ($30,000+), This goal is completed. My saving account will hold at least $20,000 for my emergency fund and $10,000 will be for my regular checking account expense.
So 2014 is almost done and 2015 will be here soon. I decided to post up my 2015 game plan goals. Next year my salary will be lower than several years ago due to my job change you can read more about it here. I’m ready to set my new goals in motion and ready to tackle it. Overall I think that I did a pretty good job of saving & investing for 2014, but I’m disappointed on the 3 month that I was unemployed so far. I have been spending way too much and increasing my expense than I wanted to, but I am looking forward for 2015. Another goal I wasn’t able to accomplish was my volunteer trip to Peru. I had some unexpected family issue came up around the time I was getting ready to leave, so I ended up canceling all my trip and was disappointed but family come first.
